In the exhibition halls of the Rocca di San Martino in Rio an exhibition has opened… or rather two, with a rich program of activities for schools and for families. The project was born from the collaboration between LeFaGio – Leggere Fare Giocare (point of sale specialized in games and children's books based in San Martino in Rio), Museum of Agriculture and the Rural World and Civic Library of San Martino in Rio.
In the first room, THE HIDDEN LIFE OF THINGS exhibits the prints of Marianna Balducci, Rimini illustrator, excerpts from his book "The hidden life of things", Sabir Editore.
“Occasionally it happens that objects get tired of being what they have always been and decide to take a vacation. Some aspire to adventure travel to unknown lands, others are content to play with curious children and people with light thoughts. Through the combination of Marianna Balducci's drawings and stories with Fabio Gervasoni's photographs, the objects transform inviting the reader to play with them, to overturn the usual point of view in favor of the fantasy”.
In the next room, HIDDEN STORIES IN THINGS exhibits a selection of objects from the cultural collections kept inside the Rocca Estense: the Museum of Agriculture and the Rural World, the civic library, the Open Archive for Henghel Gualdi and the Coppelli Art Gallery. These objects are shown to visitors and told: they tell their own story and the story of those who owned them but they are also an opportunity to travel with the imagination and find yourself immersed in the stories of the past, from the classics – Snow White, the Sleeping Beauty – passing through the dialect tales and the “Italian fairy tales” by Italo Calvino of which the 100 years from birth.
For all visitors, the invitation is to let go of the imagination and experiment with the photo-illustrated technique on the photographs of the exhibits, inventing new hidden lives for them. The drawings and stories can be hung to complete the exhibition.
