Paris

Nel 1947, on the advice of prof. Bonacini, Uber Coppelli begins a series of stays in Paris to study the Impressionists, especially Monet, but also Franz Hals and Diego Velazquez. Admire its colors and brush strokes. During one of these stays, meets the art critic Waldemar George who, in a letter addressed to prof. Bonacini, congratulates you for your seriousness, his talent, the beautiful technique.

Among the materials of the Coppelli Collection we keep the Uber Diary written during his stay in Paris between March and April 1949 and numerous designs.

Today I painted discreetly. But they're not in perfect physical condition because it's cold in that studio. He prof. he wrote to me telling me never to do what others want. He can rest assured. I wish to have my own studio then yes. It is neither money nor glory, I am interested in living in order to paint as I like.

E’ a landscape of Paris and represents a bridge over the Seine. E’ evident that it was done very early in the morning, the weak coloration says it as it is muffled by a slightly blurred light that affects the whole landscape. He gave it to me by making me choose from the three he had brought to Modena from Paris. I chose that, because in my opinion it was right to leave those who were so rich in color to him.
